    Shashaa Kiran Tirupati (born 21 December 1989) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and music producer known for her work in the Indian film and music industries.[1] Popularly known as "The Humma Girl",[2] in 2018, she won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer, as well as the Filmfare Award for the Tamil song "Vaan Varuvaan" from Kaatru Veliyidai.     Gayathri was born in a Tamil BrahminIyer family as the second daughter to dance choreographers Raghuram and Girija Raghuram.[better source needed][5] Her elder sister Suja is a dancer, who has also previously worked as an actress.[6] She is the great-granddaughter of director Krishnaswami Subrahmanyam. Her mother, Girija comes from a family of choreographers, which includes Brinda and Kala.[7]
