    To state my approach to the making of art in the simplest and most direct manner, I have used these – the hand, the eye, the heart and the mind.

    Greely Myatt is widely recognized for his whimsical sculptural objects and monumental installations made from found materials. Engaging with surrealism, pop, folk and outsider art, he has developed a compelling visual language of truly reimagined but recognizable forms. His works provoke a dialogue with the viewer around a plethora of relationships, connections, and effects among genre and style, form and content, scale and site, identity and place, time and space, art and its history, and concepts of art and craft. Myatt explores these exchanges through continuous reinterpretations of literal motifs— like the comic strip and speech bubbles— and other more conceptual frameworks.     "The House that Color Built"

    I owe the title of this entry to Alexis as that was her response after sending her this photograph of William Eggleston's house on the corner of Waring and Walnut Grove in Memphis, Tennessee. Fortunately, Greely Myatt was up to my artist stalking antics and not only knew where Eggleston lived, but had once been in his house. Greely drove right on through the driveway within feet of Eggleston's front door. There was a light on in the foyer but it was deduced that if anyone was home it was his son Winston as Eggleston is spending most of this year in Paris.
